The worst home team in the league

When you look at relegation candidates, normally you might put their struggles down to away form. It’s a lot easier to make your home stadium a fortress than build a good run on the road. However, that’s certainly not the case for Burnley.

Although they do also sit second-bottom of the “away table” in the Premier League this season, Burnley have won more points on the road than they have at home. In 13 games at Turf Moor in the league this season, Burnley have amassed just five points, with one win and two draws alongside 10 defeats. It took the Clarets eight games to taste victory at home, against Sheffield United, but they haven’t really been able to build on it. Last time out there was a 5-0 trashing against Arsenal which has come as part of a wider eight-game winless streak for Burnley. It leaves them second from bottom, 11 points from safety.

Bournemouth are also on a winless streak, now seven without victory in the Premier League — they’re still yet to win in 2024. The Cherries also suffered a defeat in the FA Cup fifth round in midweek, knocked out after extra-time by Leicester.

Despite their winless run, Bournemouth do still look safe from the relegation battle. The Cherries are 14th, eight points clear of 18th-placed Luton, with three other teams below them. However, they know that safety isn’t a guarantee and they’ll be hoping to put some more distance between them and the drop this weekend.

Burnley vs Bournemouth match tip

Over 2.5 goals @ 8/11 with BetMGM

This may not be a game you’d expect too many goals from, but Bournemouth’s away matches have been fun to watch of late. Five of the Cherries’ last six Premier League games on the road have seen at least three goals scored, with the sole exception a 1-1 draw with West Ham last month. In that time, there have been 22 goals scored.

It’s pretty understandable and not surprising to see Bournemouth favourites for this game. Burnley are frankly terrible at home, the worst side in the Premier League. While Bournemouth themselves aren’t in a good run of form right now, they’re being backed to end that this weekend.
