Brighton vs Tottenham prediction, stats, tips & team news: Bentancur to be carded in 10/1 Bet Builder
Brighton will be hoping to continue their good start to the Premier League season when they host Tottenham Hotspur next weekend.
The Seagulls were beaten for this first time new Premier League campaign last weekend after a strong start. Tottenham, meanwhile, managed a strong 3-0 win over Man United last weekend and have won their last five across all competitions.
Brennan Johnson at least 1 Shot on Target (17/20 with William Hill)
Brennan Johnson is enjoying a rich vein of form for Spurs and found the net in the 2-1 away win over Ferencvaros on Thursday evening. The Welshman has now scored in each of his last five appearances for Spurs across all competitions, but it’s the shots on target market that features a price I’ve been drawn to on Sunday.
Spurs have recorded more shots on target than any other team in the Premier League this season (45). Looking at Johnson’s shooting data, he has hit the target at least once in all of his last eight matches across all formats. Brighton tend to be involved in open, high-scoring matches, and at 17/20, Johnson looks a big price to record just one shot on target.
Dominic Solanke Over 1.5 Shots on Target & Rodrigo Bentancur to be Carded (10/1 With BetMGM)
Dominic Solanke has started to find his feet in North London and has now scored in each of his last three starts. The former Bournemouth front-man has recorded shots-on-target totals of 3,2 and 2 across his last three starts, and I’m taking him to clear the 2+ line again on Sunday.
The increase in cards in the Premier League has been notable over the last few weeks, with a rise from 4.51 per game in the top flight last season to 5.48 per game this season. Rodrigo Bentancur is the man I’m targeting to find his way into the book on the South Coast and he has been booked in three of his five matches since the start of the campaign. Last season, Bentancur was booked in four of his 11 away matches in the Premier League and combining him with Solanke to have 2+ shots on target pays 10/1.
How to watch Brighton vs Tottenham live
Brighton vs Tottenham is scheduled for 4:30pm on Sunday 6th October and will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League.
How both teams go into Brighton vs Tottenham
Life under Fabian Hurzeler has started brightly for Brighton. The Seagulls were struggling towards the end of Roberto de Zerbi’s tenure and the change has worked.
Brighton started the new campaign with wins over Everton and Manchester United. The perfect start came to an end with a draw against Arsenal and Brighton have since been held by Ipswich and Nottingham Forest and defeated by Chelsea.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are in the second season of the Ange Postecoglou era. And it’s been a mixed bag. Spurs opened the campaign with a draw against newly-promoted Leicester City but did thrash Everton in their first home game.
But since then Tottenham have lost twice. The defeats came to Newcastle United and Arsenal in back-to-back matches either side of the September international break. Tottenham have bounced back with five wins from five across all competitions and arrive here after resting several key players in the Europa League on Thursday.
Brighton host Tottenham at the Amex on Sunday 6th October at 4:30pm.
Brighton team news
Solly March could return for Brighton after being out for nearly a year. The Seagulls will hope to have the likes of James Milner, Brajan Gruda and Joao Pedro back for this one.
Tottenham team news
Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are Tottenham’s two injury concerns at the moment. Both will be out until after the international break.
Brighton vs Tottenham head-to-head
Tottenham have generally enjoyed playing Brighton since the Seagulls were promoted to the Premier League. The north London club have won nine of the 14 Premier League matches, with four wins for Brighton and one draw.
