Brighton vs Nottingham Forest prediction, odds, tips & team news

Brighton takes on Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup quarter-final match at the Amex Stadium on Saturday, March 29. This game will be shown live on BBC One in the United Kingdom, kicking-off at 5:15pm. Check out our match preview and best bets below.

Nottingham Forest or Draw (Double Chance) (21/20 with Midnite)

I was shocked to see that most bookmakers have priced Brighton as the odds-on favourites to win this match in 90 minutes. I feel that’s a bit of an insult to Forest, who sit third in the league and have been one of the most impressive teams throughout the campaign. Nuno’s side have beaten Ipswich and Manchester City, along with holding Arsenal to a 0-0 draw in their three most recent league games. They gave Brighton a 7-0 thumping at the start of February and although I don’t see this being as one-sided, the visitors look a great price in the double chance market.

Nottingham Forest to Win & BTTS (13/2 with Paddy Power)

Forest have been known for its defensive resilience this season. However, most of those strong performances with clean sheets have arrived at the City Ground. Away from home, they have conceded in all of their last four, shipping at least two goals in all of those.

Both Teams to Score has clicked in all of Brighton’s last four. A high-scoring contest could be on the cards on the South Coast, but at the current prices, Forest make much more appeal, at 13/2 to with the game with both teams finding the net.

How both teams go into Brighton vs Nottingham Forest

A resounding 4-0 success at Norwich opened Brighton’s FA Cup account, subsequently setting up an all-Premier League affair with Chelsea, which they eventually won 2-1. Newcastle put up an even bigger fight next time out, as the game went into extra time only for Danny Welbeck to decide the contest before the looming spectre of penalties. This will be their third quarter-final appearance in the last seven years, and on those previous occasions, the Seagulls reached the final four. This will be Nottingham Forest’s second top-flight opposition in the season’s FA Cup after they overcame Luton Town before defeating Exeter City on penalties and then Ipswich Town via the same method. Since reaching the 1991 final, Forest have never reached the semi-finals, with Liverpool (2022) and Aston Villa (1996) eliminating them in the quarter-final stage.

Brighton team news

Igor Julio is a long-term absentee for Brighton, who also have James Milner and Ferdi Kadioglu ruled out for this contest. Jason Steele, Matthew O’Riley, Solly March, Lewis Dunk, and Joel Veltman are all doubtful, while there is no return date for Tariq Lamptey, who is dealing with a foot injury.

Nottingham Forest team news

Carlos Miguel is the only Nottingham Forest player missing, with no return date for the Brazilian goalkeeper who is nursing a thigh injury.

Brighton vs Nottingham Forest head-to-head

Brighton have won only two of their previous seven matches against Nottingham Forest (three losses and two draws), infamously suffering a 7-0 loss in their last meeting.
