How both teams go into Brighton vs Ipswich
Life under Fabian Hurzeler has gone well so far for Brighton. The Seagulls were falling away slightly under Roberto De Zerbi and a fresh start was definitely needed — despite their progress under the Italian. It was a bit of a bold move to go for Hurzeler, but as with pretty much everything for Brighton, it’s working out.
After three games, Brighton are one of seven sides still unbeaten in the Premier League. The Seagulls won their opening two matches, beating Everton 3-0 and Manchester United 2-1. Then, in their final game before the international break, Brighton came from a goal down to secure a draw against 10-man Arsenal who had also been perfect up until that point.
Ipswich, meanwhile, have suffered on their return to the Premier League. The Tractor Boys were always going to be up against it and were among the pre-season favourites to be relegated from the top flight. They had an extremely tough start to the new season too.
First up for Ipswich were Liverpool, who were building on a third-placed finish and had Arne Slot looking to impress in his first game. The Tractor Boys lost that one before also being beaten by Manchester City, although a 2-0 scoreline against Liverpool and getting on the scoresheet to take the lead against City will give them confidence. Last time out, Ipswich got their first point with a 1-1 draw against Fulham.
Brighton host Ipswich at the Amex Stadium on Saturday 14th September at 3pm (UK time).
Brighton team news
Brighton will hope for good news surrounding a handful of their players for this weekend. Mats Wieffer is a doubt but could feature, although Ferdi Kadioglu and Brajan Gruda are still a little way of being fit enough to debut.
Matt O’Riley is still expected to miss out having joined from Celtic with an injury. Solly March and James Milner are also out while Joel Veltman is a doubt.
Ipswich team news
Wes Burns may return for Ipswich but they still have a few players out injured. George Hirst, Nathan Broadhead, Harry Clarke and Janoi Donacien are all expected to miss out.
Brighton vs Ipswich head-to-head
Ipswich are unbeaten in their past three games against Brighton, though they haven’t faced off since 2017. In the 2016/17 Championship, both games finished level.
