*Odds correct as of 15:30 on December 16

Brentford suffered a 1-0 loss at Sheffield United last time out leaving them in the bottom half of the table after 16 matches. Thomas Frank’s men have now lost four of their last five Premier League games (one win), one more defeat than in their previous 14 in the competition combined (seven wins, four draws and three losses).  The Gtech Community Stadium has been a fortress for Brentford since their promotion to the top flight, having lost just four of their 27 Premier League home games since the start of last season (W13 D10), though two of those have come in their last five.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, ran out 1-0 winners over Arsenal last time out to record a new club record of 15 consecutive home league wins for the first time in the club’s 149-year history. That result, coupled with their 1-0 win over Man City just three days before, meant Villa became just the fourth team to play the previous season’s top two in consecutive Premier League matches and win them both, after Liverpool in December 2000, Southampton in May 2001 and Manchester United in December 2002.

Unai Emery’s side go into the weekend just two points behind leaders Liverpool in their quest for Champions League football and will be hoping for another three points here having unbeaten in all six of their Premier League games in London under Unai Emery (W4 D2) and Brentford struggling for form having lost as many games in their last five as in their previous 18 in the competition (4).
