Everton battling on and off the pitch

At the moment, things are going Everton’s way. They saw their points deduction reduced to six, lifting them out of the relegation zone, before Nottingham Forest were deducted points, dropping them into the bottom three. However, there is another points deduction looming for Everton that may put them into the thick of it.

The Toffees are currently four points clear of the drop, having played one game fewer than Luton and Nottingham Forest below them. However, they are in terrible form. Everton are now winless in their last 11 Premier League games, drawing five and losing six, since that impressive run of four-straight victories to start December. That run had many tipping Everton for comfortable safety, even after their initial 10-points deduction. But now they are in real trouble. In poor form and facing another deduction, Everton cannot afford to drop points.

Bournemouth, on the other hand, are sitting relatively pretty. The Cherries have been flirting with the relegation battle across most of the season, though they haven’t been quite bad enough to be fully involved. And now, thanks to form and other teams being deducted points, they are 14 points clear of the relegation zone. Even though there are 10 games left to play, this feels a gap too big for Bournemouth to be dragged down. So now it’s about finishing the season as high as possible.

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing for Bournemouth, who were winless in their first six league games of 2024. That did include a couple of tough games against Liverpool and Manchester City, but the Cherries will have hoped to do better in the remaining fixtures. The rot was stopped with a hat-trick of games against relegation battlers, with wins over Bournemouth and Luton either side of a draw against Sheffield United — that they had to battle from 2-0 down to secure.

Bournemouth vs Everton match tip

Bournemouth to keep a clean sheet @ 9/4 with Midnite

Goals have been a bit of a problem for Everton this season, with the Toffees lacking an out-and-out scorer. It’s been particularly tricky on the road of late, with Everton failing to score in four of their past five away Premier League matches.

Bournemouth are favourites for this game, but it is closer than you might expect. Of course, Everton are in a terrible run of form, now winless in their last 11 Premier League games. However, Bournemouth only recently ended their winless start to 2024 — with two wins against Burnley and Luton.
