Bournemouth recently went on a run of six wins in seven games, including a streak of four consecutive victories over Crystal Palace, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and Fulham. However, the fixture list has been tough for them of late, and results have taken a hit. In their past three games, Bournemouth have faced Tottenham and Liverpool, losing 3-1 to the former and 4-0 against the latter, before drawing 1-1 away at West Ham. It leaves them 12th in the table, now five points outside the top half but eight clear of the bottom three.

Things are a little more pressing for Nottingham Forest, who sit dangerously close to the relegation zone. Forest had to make the big call to sack Steve Cooper in December and it was a tough first game for Nuno Espirito Santo, beaten 3-2 by Bournemouth. The Portuguese boss did turn things around to win his next two matches, though, beating Newcastle and then Manchester United to end 2023. However, the winning run ended in a 3-2 defeat to Brentford, while last time out they fell 2-1 at home to Arsenal, leaving Forest just two points clear of the relegation zone.
