The first big clash of the 2023/24 Primeira Liga season sees defending champions Benfica take on runners-up Porto, both looking to maintain their good starts to the new campaign. Porto are one of two teams still unbeaten in the Primeira Liga after six games, level on points with early leaders Sporting CP, but behind on goal difference. The Dragons opened the campaign with a trio of 2-1 wins, beating Moreirense, Farense and Rio Ave, but the perfect start came to an end with a 1-1 draw against Arouca. They have bounced back though, beating Estrela and Gil Vicente.

Benfica, meanwhile, got their title defence off to the worst possible start, losing Boavista on the opening weekend. However, they returned in emphatic fashion. Benfica are currently on the longest winning run in the Primeira Liga with five in a row, starting with a 2-0 win over Estrela. They have since beaten Gil Vicente, Vitoria, Vizela and Portimonense to sit just one point behind the top two.

Rafa has also created more chances than any other player in the Primeira Liga at 17, and the most Big Chances (five).

Benfica vs Porto Bet-Builder tip

Under 3.5 goals & BTTS

Porto’s league games this season have all been close affairs, with the Dragons either drawing (once) or winning by a one-goal margin (five times). Of those five wins, four have finished 2-1 to Porto, the highest-scoring matches for the Dragons this season. The other was a 1-0 win for Porto, the only time they have kept a clean sheet across all competitions.
