This is the first of two back-to-back friendly clashes between these sides, who also lock horns once again next Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
For Spurs, these matches represent the final touches to their summer preparations, with the new Premier League season beginning in just two weeks. Postecoglou’s men boast a 100% record and have scored a bucket load of goals, beating Cambridge United, Hearts, QPR, Vissel Kobe and K-League All Stars with 21 goals combined. However, there have been some defensive issues with eight goals conceded and just one clean sheet.
As for Bayern Munich, the pressure will be on new manager Vincent Kompany to regain the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen this season. The Bavarians are a little further back in their pre-season preparations having played just two games so far.
Kompany’s first game in charge saw them thrash amateur side FC Rottach-Egern 14-1 in their traditional friendly meeting, which was followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw with fourth-tier side 1.FC Duren. Following this double-header, Bayern take on Austrian side WSG Tirol before their DFB-Pokal first-round match against Ulm.

Harry Kane will not be available to face his former club as he recovers from his Euro 2024 exploits with England. However, new signing Joao Palhinha has been included in the squad. Unlike Kane, Eric Dier should start against his old teammates, but Bayern Munich remain without Michael Olise, Leroy Sane, Matthijs de Ligt, Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies due to a mixture of injuries and international commitments.
Tottenham Hotspur team news
Like Bayern, a number of Tottenham players are still resting up following summer internationals, including Rodrigo Bentancur, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. However, Radu Dragusin is back in action, while Oliver Skipp’s knock last time out is nothing serious.
Spurs fans will be glad to see Italian left-back Destiny Udogie closing in on a return to action.
