Barcelona will be hoping to get back on track in Group H after a shock 1-0 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk last time out ended their 100% start to the campaign. That defeat leaves them in second place going into the final two matches, level on points with this week’s opponents Porto and three points clear of Shakhtar in third, who face bottom side Royal Antwerp on Tuesday, so it’s a must win game for Xavi’s side.

After being knocked out in the group stages in each of their last two campaigns, Barca will be looking to make it to the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time since 2020/21 and avoid three consecutive group stage exits for the first time in their history. They have an impressive home record against Portuguese opposition in the European Cup/Champions League, winning seven and drawing two of their nine matches, while FC Porto have lost their last three away European matches against Barcelona.

Looking for their first win over Barca home or away for the first time since 1985, Porto know a victory here would be huge for their chances of making the knockout rounds for the sixth time in their last seven campaigns. Despite losing the reverse fixture 1-0 at the start of October (their only defeat in their last eight Champions League group stages games), the Portuguese giants sit above Barca on goals scored having won away at Shakhtar Donetsk and beating bottom side Royal Antwerp in back-to-back fixtures. A draw may be enough for Sérgio Conceição’s side, though it would move them below Barcelona on the head-to-head.
