In their semi-final second leg against Roma, they secured a 2-2 draw and extended their unbeaten run to 49 matches (now standing at 51). The team has displayed immense desire under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, which is evident in the numerous crucial late goals they have scored.
Standing in their way is an impressive Atalanta side who are playing at a different tempo to their Serie A rivals and sparkling in the UEFA Europa League, where forwards Charles De Ketelaere and Gianluca Scamacca have hit top form when it counts the most. Leverkusen are undefeated this season, but this will be a severe test for the German champions.
