Atalanta vs Liverpool Predictions, Tips and Odds: Gasperini warns Europa League tie is ‘not over’
Atalanta and Liverpool go head-to-head in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash on Thursday evening.
The Reds have left themselves with a mountain to climb after falling to a shock 3-0 defeat at Anfield in last week’s first-leg encounter, although Liverpool are no strangers to having to pull off epic European comebacks.

Gasperini warns Atalanta players Europa League tie is ‘not over’
An Italian team 3-0 up against Liverpool midway through a European tie, where have we heard that one before?
If Liverpool’s record of historic European comebacks wasn’t enough to keep Atalanta’s players on their toes heading into Thursday’s second leg, perhaps their own habit of throwing away leads might do that. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side raced into a 2-0 lead inside 18 minutes against Hellas Verona on Sunday, only to concede two goals inside four second-half minutes and end up drawing the match 2-2. That was the fourth time in Atalanta’s last five Serie A matches that they’ve gone ahead and yet failed to win and it’s for that reason that Gian Piero Gasperini does not consider this Europa League tie finished yet.
“We saw tonight that Verona was able to score two goals in four minutes,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “I’ve seen Liverpool score three in six minutes in a Champions League final against Milan!
“We knew after Anfield it wasn’t over, but Thursday will be a historic appointment for the city, the club and our players. We know another great performance is needed, but the objective is so prestigious that we’ll find the energy.”

Atalanta vs Liverpool odds
Atalanta are a tough assignment for any travelling side, especially one perhaps suffering from a lack of confidence after a few poor results as Liverpool may be. However, the Reds’ sheer weight of quality still makes them favourites to win the second leg. Doing enough to overturn a 3-0 deficit? Well, that’s a whole different task.
