Aston Villa vs Man United Predictions
Aston Villa Over 14.5 tackles & Ma United Over 16.5 tackles (5/6 with bet365)
No team has made more tackles in the Premier League this season than Manchester United and tackles certainly look on the agenda for Sunday’s headliner at Villa Park.
The Red Devils have racked up 135 tackles in six matches this season and are going up against the fifth-most-tackled side in the league, Aston Villa. Villa have been tackled 118 times since the start of the campaign(19.66 per game), excluding against Bayern Munich, which went way over this average in the midweek Champions League match, racking up 24!
Manchester United have cleared this 16.5 line comfortably in five of their six Premier League games, averaging 22.5 per game in that period.
Villa were the second-lowest tacklers last season, making just 14.4 per game, but they have seen a massive upturn this season under a more aggressive style. They face a United side that has been tackled 115 times this season (19.16 per game), similar to Villa’s 118.
Villa have cleared this 14.5 line in five of their six Premier League games this season, with an average of 18.83 per game, also most recently racking up an insane 29 tackles v Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Manchester United most shots, most shots on target, and most corners (10/1 with bet365)
Villa are an impressive side, and they are rightly favourites against this United side, who seem to be all over the place without the ball. However, I think United will give it a good go at Villa Park on Sunday evening. They have a real point to prove if Ten Hag is to keep his job.
For all the dominance Villa put on their opposition, they’re not the most creative side; they’re more clinical. This has resulted in them having fewer shots and shots on target than their opposition across their last four games. This includes games against Bayern (expected), Ipswich, Wycombe, and Wolves.
All of those bar Wolves also managed the most corners, with Wolves losing the count 6 to 5. This 10/1 essentially landed against Villa in three of their last four, unexpectedly by Ipswich and Wycombe (almost against Wolves too).
For all of United’s mishaps this season, they’ve actually had more shots, shots on target, and corners in five of their last six games, coming up short in the Spurs’ mauling.
If Villa get ahead in the game, I wouldn’t be surprised if this 10/1 goes exceptionally close.
How both teams go into Aston Villa vs Man United
Before the 24-25 Premier League heads off for its second international break, there’s a tasty treat for fans. Aston Villa have started the new season well, picking up from where they left off.
The Villans have picked up four wins from their opening six games, only dropping points in a defeat to Arsenal and on the road at Ipswich. Unai Emery’s men have also got off to a winning start in the Champions League, beating Young Boys in their opener, before
Things haven’t gone as smoothly for Man United. The Red Devils are still struggling to find their identity under Erik ten Hag, who was given a new contract in the summer. Man United have lost three of their opening six league games, with two wins and a draw.
Aston Villa host Man United at Old Trafford on Sunday 6th October at 2pm.
Aston Villa team news
Boubacar Kamara and Tyrone Mings won’t return from their respective injuries until after the international break. John McGinn is also set to miss out.
Man United team news
Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof may be back for this game, but it is likely that Ten Hag won’t risk their fitness. Instead, they may be saved until after the international break. Tyrell Malacia and Leny Yoro are also out, the latter not expected back for another two months. Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo are both a doubt.
