However, their aspirations for a first Champions League quarter-final appearance now look slim. In their last visit to England, they suffered a 3–1 defeat to Manchester City in their final group stage match.

Pau Torres returned to the bench for Aston Villa in the first leg, which was a big boost. But he is unlikely to start ahead of Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa. Ross Barkley could be fit for the second leg, but Amadou Onana is not expected back until after the international break.

Club Brugge team news

Joaquín Seys and Bjorn Meijer are the only absentees for Club Brugge, with the former picking up an injury in a recent league game against Gent.
