Villa to get back on track?
After a 4-1 demolition at the hands of Man City in midweek left them just two points clear of Tottenham in the race for the final confirmed Champions League spot, Villa know this is a must win game.
Unai Emery’s men have had mixed results in recent weekes after a heavy 4-0 defeat to rivals Spurs was followed up by a 1-1 draw against West Ham, before a 2-0 victory over Wolves. Since their 15-game home winning run in the Premier League between March and December, Aston Villa have won just three of their seven league games at Villa Park (D1 L3) and will be hoping to get back on track against a struggling Brentford side on Saturday.
The Bees are currently without a win in their last eight matches in the league (D3 L5) and currently sit just six points off the relegation places. Thomas Frank’s side have also lost 11 of their last 12 Premier League matches against sides starting the day in the top five of the table, including all eight such matches this season. Their sole victory in this run was against Manchester City on the final day last season, who had already been crowned champions.
