Everton vs Aston Villa odds
*Odds correct as of 14:10 on January 12
Everton find themselves sitting in 17th place on 16 points, just a point outside of the relegation zone with 18 matches to play. The hosts lost their last Premier League match 3-0 at Wolves to make it three straight defeats in the competition and could find themselves in more trouble with Burnley and Luton facing off on Friday evening. The Toffees haven’t lost four in a row since March 2022 under Frank Lampard and will be looking for a better result against Villa this time around, having lost their last three Premier League home games against the Villains.
Aston Villa, meanwhile, beat Burnley 3-2 at home last time out, leaving them in second place on 42 points. Unai Emery’s men are three points behind leaders Liverpool, but also three points in front of fifth-placed Tottenham for a spot in the Champions League. They will be hoping that 2024 is another successful year having picked up 85 points in the Premier League in 2023, second only to Manchester City (93). Their 26 league wins last year were the second-most in one year in their league history, only winning more in 1972 (28) when they were playing in the second and third tiers of English football.
Unai Emery’s side have also gotten the better of Everton in recent meetings, going unbeaten in their last nine matches against the Toffees (W7 D2), keeping six clean sheets and winning the last five in a row.
