Chelsea continue their Europa Conference League adventures with a trip to face Astana at Ortalyq Stadion on Thursday 12th December at 3:30pm (UK time). The Blues have already booked their spot in the knockout stages of the Europa Conference League, but have two games to secure a place in the last 16. This match will be broadcast live in the UK on TNT Sports 2.

How both teams go into Astana vs Chelsea

Things have gone swimmingly for Chelsea in the Europa Conference League. After four games of the league phase, the Blues remain perfect. With just two matches left to play, they have secured their spot in the knockout stages. Victory here could seal a place in the last 16. The Blues are the top scorers in the Europa Conference League this season, scoring 18 goals across their wins over Gent, Panathinaikos, Noah and Heidenheim. They were made to work hard for their 2-0 win over Heidenheim last time out, with the German side previous perfect.

Hosts Astana have a fight on their hands to reach the knockout stages. They are currently 23rd with just two games left to play, and are only in the qualifying spots on goal difference. But they’ve taken four points from four games and, of course, have a tough fifth game. Astana did win their first game against Backa Topla, but have followed that up with defeats to The New Saints and Pafos. Last time out, the Kazakh side drew with Vitoria de Guimaraes.

Chelsea team news

Reece James remains out for Chelsea, and he will not be rushed back. Cesare Casadei is suspended after his late sending off in the win over Heidenheim. Of course, the likes of Cole Palmer are not included in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League squad.
