Arsenal vs Wolves Premier League predictions and stats: Will Arteta lead another title challenge?
Arsenal will start their latest Premier League title challenge with a home game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Gunners have finished second two years in a row but will have their sights set on the big prize this time around. Wolves, meanwhile, finished comfortably in 14th, 20 points clear of relegation worries.
Three predictions for Arsenal vs Wolves
Arsenal 2-0 Wolves (5/1 with Betano)
After doing the double over Arsenal in 2020/21, Wolves have now lost each of their last six matches against the Gunners, failing to score in three of the last four. They also ended 2023/24 with a whimper, losing five of their last six Premier League games (W1), including the last three in a row.
Bukayo Saka First Goalscorer (22/5 with Betano)
The Arsenal forward had a season to remember in 2023/24, becoming the first Englishman to score 15+ goals in a Premier League season for Arsenal since Ian Wright in 1996/97.
Arsenal to win to nil (1/1 with Betano)
The Gunners have conceded just five goals in their last 10 Premier League matches, winning six of them to nil. Arsenal have also scored in each of their last 33 meetings with Wolves in all competitions, since a 1-0 home loss in February 1979. It’s both the Gunners’ longest scoring streak against an opponent, and Wolves’ longest run without a clean sheet against a side in their respective histories.

How to watch Arsenal vs Wolves live
Arsenal vs Wolves is set for 3pm (UK time) on Saturday, 17th August, though the game won’t be broadcast live in the UK.
How both teams go into Arsenal vs Wolves
It was another agonising end to a Premier League season for Arsenal in May. Having led the title race late into the campaign, the Gunners eventually succumbed to the machine that is Manchester City. This time around, Arsenal lost the title by just two points, despite winning eight of their final 10 games. One of those failures to win was a 1-1 draw with Man City, before a 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa proved the most costly.
But there were reasons to be optimistic. First and foremost, Arsenal proved that their previous title challenge wasn’t a fluke. They’re here to stay. And Mikel Arteta can only build on two impressive seasons, hoping this is the year Man City finally slip up.
Wolves, meanwhile, finished 14th in the table in Gary O’Neil’s first season in charge. But there was certainly reason to be happy. Wolves struggled with a lot of injuries last season, to key players in key moments, and they only really tailed off towards the end of the campaign once safety was secured.
O’Neil didn’t even get a pre-season with Wolves either, replacing Julen Lopetegui on the eve of the new campaign. So now, with a full summer under his belt and some depth added to the squad, there will be hope that O’Neil can lift Wolves up the table once more.
Arsenal’s title challenge last season was built partly on their fantastic defence. The Gunners kept more clean sheets than any other team and also conceded fewer goals in the Premier League. They have also won each of their past six games against Wolves, keeping clean sheets in four of those victories.
Arsenal host Wolves at 3pm (UK time) on Saturday, 17th August, at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal team news
Arsenal have made David Raya’s loan move permanent so he will remain the Gunners’ first-choice goalkeeper. There haven’t been any significant changes to Arsenal’s team over the summer, apart from the signing of defender Riccardo Calafiori, who is expected to provide cover for Gabriel as well as slot in at LB. They will also hope to have Jurrien Timber fully fit for the start of the new season.
The Dutchman remains a doubt, while Arsenal will definitely be without fellow defenders xx

Wolves team news
Wolves have been busy this summer. They’ve brought in four new players including striker Jorgen Strand Larsen on loan from Celta Vigo, and he could lead the line after a good campaign in La Liga. But they also said goodbye to Max Kilman, forcing a change to the backline. Nelson Semedo will miss this game through suspension after his red card against Liverpool on the final day of the season. Meanwhile, Enso Gonzalez and Leon Chiwome are both injured, while Matheus Cunha, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Daniel Podence are all doubts.
Arsenal vs Wolves head-to-head
Arsenal are enjoying their time against Wolves right now, winning each of the past six matches. It came after Wolves did the double over Arsenal in the 2020/21 campaign as part of a wider run that saw the Gunners win one in six.
