BTTS in 1st half (3/1 with Sky Bet)

Arsenal have scored in the first half of their last three Premier League games and both teams have scored in the first half in each of their last three Champions League fixtures too. In fact, the Gunners have scored an impressive 15 first-half goals in 10 Champions League outings so far this season. A quick start is expected in this one as both teams look for an early advantage in what should be a hotly contested affair and, with plenty of attacking talent on display at both ends of the pitch, there should be plenty of chances for both teams.

Jude Bellingham to score anytime and Eduardo Camavinga to be shown a card (15/1 with Paddy Power)

All three of Jude Bellingham’s Champions League goals this season have come in his past four away games in the competition. The Englishman has been in sparkling form since his move to Real Madrid, proving himself to be invaluable in the attacking third, chipping in with 27 goals in 52 appearances since his big money move from Borussia Dortmund. Eduardo Camavinga has been booked eight time in 35 appearances so far this season. The Frenchman is expected to play at the base of the midfield giving him plenty of opportunity to see lots of the ball and make plenty of tackles.

How both teams go into Arsenal vs Real Madrid

The Champions League remains Arsenal’s last chance for a trophy this season and they’ve been strong in the competition so far. Mikel Arteta’s men finished third in the group stage with six wins from eight, drawing one and losing the other. They boasted one of the best defences in the group stage, only conceding three goals. As a result, Arsenal earned direct passage to the last 16, where they were pit against PSV. And Arsenal were ruthless in that tie, winning 6-1 on aggregate.

Domestically, Arsenal have been in good, albeit not spectacular form, going five games unbeaten but drawing three of those games. They currently sit 11 points behind Premier League leaders, Liverpool, and time is running out to overturn what looks to be an insurmountable lead. They’ll need Liverpool to drop plenty of points and will near need perfect form themselves. They slipped up at the weekend, drawing 1-1 with Everton, looking to have one eye on the game against Real Madrid.

Madrid are currently second in La Liga, four points behind leaders Barcelona, with recent losses against Valencia and Real Betis preventing them from closing that gap. They face a key game with the current league leaders in early May and will be hoping that they will be a bit closer to their rivals when that game comes around.

The defending champions haven’t had the best run in the Champions League this season, but as always they have found a way through. Los Blancos finished 11th in the group stage with five wins and three defeats, one point outside the top eight. That meant they had to go through the knockout phase play-offs, where they faced Manchester City. Real Madrid had too much for Man City, winning both legs for an aggregate score of 6-3. They then needed penalties to beat rivals Atletico Madrid in the last 16, though that win was embroiled in controversy.

Arsenal team news

Bukayo Saka is available for this game, while Riccardo Calafiori may also miss out after suffering an injury over the international break. Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu are out for the season. Worringly, Gabriel is also out of this huge game, with their influential centre back ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury.

Real Madrid team news

Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are out for the season, while Dani Ceballos also won’t be back until May. This game may be too soon for Ferland Mendy, who picked up an injury in the last 16 win over Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal vs Real Madrid head-to-head

Arsenal and Real Madrid have faced off just twice in competitive football. The Gunners knocked Real Madrid out of the 2005-06 Champions League last 16, winning 1-0 on aggregate.
