Can the Gunners end their 20-year wait?
After an incredible Premier League campaign, the title race comes to its conclusion on the final weekend and Arsenal know it’s now out of their hands.
Manchester City’s first Premier League victory over Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium in midweek means that the Gunners now have to win to have any chance of clinching their first Premier League title since 2004 and hope Pep Guardiola’s men drop points at home to West Ham. A City draw would also be enough to hand Mikel Arteta’s side the trophy if they were to beat the Toffees, becoming the first side since Man City in 2011/12 to win the title on goal difference.
The Gunners have pushed City all the way this season, going unbeaten against their fellow ‘Big Six’ sides, but defeats to Aston Villa (home and away), West Ham, Newcastle and Fulham means that they now have to rely on a City slip up. They go into this game on the back of five consecutive victories in the Premier League, including a hard-fought 1-0 win at Old Trafford last weekend as they set a new club record for wins (27) and goals scored (89) in a single Premier League campaign.
They face a tough test against an Everton side who are also in form and tough to score against.
Since their 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea, the Toffees have won four of their last five matches (D1) and kept four clean sheets. ‘Tracksuit Sean Dyche’ has moved them 14 points clear of the relegation zone despite their eight-point deduction and has done an incredible job at Goodison Park despite all the troubles at the club this season.
Arsenal vs Everton match tip
Bukayo Saka to score anytime @ 21/20 with Midnite
Bukayo Saka is having his best goalscoring season for Arsenal in the Premier League, becoming the first Englishman to score 15+ goals in a Premier League season for Arsenal since Ian Wright in 1996/97. The 22-year-old is the Gunners’ top scorer in the Premier League this season with 16 goals in his 35 appearances and has found the back of the net in two of his last three.
Arsenal vs Everton odds
With Everton’s safety confirmed and Arsenal needing a win to have any chance of clinching their first Premier League title in 20 years, it’s no surprise that the Gunners are huge favourites to win this one. The Toffees are unbeaten in their last five (W4 D1), however, and with four clean sheets during those five matches, they still have the quality to cause an upset.
