Can Gunners end miserable run against Bayern Munich?
Arsenal are a very different side to what they were the last time they met Bayern Munich back in 2017 and while Harry Kane may strike fear into supporters of his former North London rivals, there’s no doubting the Bavarians are off the pace this season.
That said, the Gunners have a miserable record to overturn in this fixture. Arsenal’s only win in their last six competitive meetings with Bayern came during the 2014/15 group stages, while earning a draw in a knockout exit the year earlier and losing the other four. There have been some heavy defeats, too, with Bayern Munich winning each of the last three meetings by a 5-1 scoreline spanning one group game and in both legs of their 2017 round of 16 tie.
It’s a record that is more embarrassing than disappointing and one Mikel Arteta will be keen to put to an end immediately. Given the form of the two sides, he’ll be confident of doing just that, regardless of Kane’s record against Arsenal.
