Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti welcomes his former club Chelsea to Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday at 8pm.
Everton vs Chelsea: Predictions
After a stellar start to the Premier League season Everton have hit a bump in the road and are now sleepwalking to mid-table obscurity, but Carlo Ancelotti has the chance to reignite the Toffees’ fortunes when his side welcome an in-form Chelsea to Merseyside this weekend.
The Goodison Park club were riding crest of a wave a few months ago, inspired by the triple swoop of Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucoure in the summer window, but the wheels have just started to come off for Ancelotti, having lost his previous two Premier League home games against Man Utd and Leeds.
In stark contrast Frank Lampard has masterminded an early title assault for the Blues, as well as success in Europe, cruising through Group E as table-toppers in the Champions League, and catapulting his side up to third in the Premier League table, with the Londoners just two points adrift pace-setters Tottenham.
Chelsea are currently unbeaten in 14 games across all competitions but find themselves on a two-game losing run at Goodison Park. Can Ancelotti make that three on the spin and get Everton’s season back up and running, or will Lampard oversee a second straight win against his former manager?

Everton vs Chelsea: Match Stats
Despite being restricted to a rotational role this season, Olivier Giroud has vindicated Lampard’s faith when the young coach has turned to him. The Frenchman has seven goals in 12 games this term and has scored in each of his last six Premier League starts for Chelsea. Only Mark Stein (between December 1993 and February 1994) has scored in more consecutive starts for the Blues in the competition (seven).
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another man in a rich vein of form, currently leading the Golden Boot race with 11 goals from 11 games, and it’s clear to see why the England international has been so clinical this term, as he has registered more shots on target than any other player in the Premier League so far (21).

Lampard was Ancelotti’s vice-captain when the Italian guided Chelsea to a Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010, and the duo faced off in the dugout for the first time back in March, with the forming clinching the bragging rights in a comprehensive 4-0 triumph, with goals from Mason Mount, Pedro, Willian and Giroud.
