After suffering back-to-back group stage exits at the U21 European Championships, England will be hoping to all but book their place in the quarter-finals when they face-off against Israel this weekend.
Having won eight of their 10 games in qualifying for this tournament and dropping just five points, England have carried that form into this tournament and made light work of opponents Czech Republic in their opening game. Goals from Jacob Ramsey and substitute Emile Smith Rowe secured a 2-0 win to move to the top of Group C, with Lee Carsley’s side dominated proceedings, finishing with 70% possession and allowing the opposition just two shots on target.
Israel, meanwhile, took a point from their opening game, after Germany’s Yann Bisseck cancelled out Dor Turgeman’s opener, with both goals coming in the space of just six first half minutes. Midfielder Eden Karzev was sent to the stands just before HT, but they weathered the German storm in the second half to secure a hard fought draw that could be vital for their chances of reaching the knockout rounds.

Having kept three clean sheets in their last four competitive matches, including in their opening group game against Czech Republic, England U21 will be confident of another shut-out against an Israel side that had just three shots in the first half against Germany, before they went down to 10-men minutes before HT.
Looking to get amongst the goals will be Noni Madueke, who had more shots (5) than any other player against Czech Republic, hitting the target twice and seeing one effort comeback off the woodwork where he was unlucky not to score. The Chelsea man was a constant threat, causing defenders nightmares with his impressive close control and dribbling ability as he completed six of his eight take-ons.
