Derby vs Sheffield Wednesday: Predictions
Wayne Rooney’s side must win their game if they do not wish to rely on results elsewhere to help their hopes of staying in the Championship for another season. With just one game to go, Rooney’s men need to equal or better Rotherham’s result against Cardiff City to keep their Championship status.
The Rams face a Sheffield Wednesday side who are hoping on a mini-miracle to escape the drop. A win for Wednesday would take them above the Rams with a slightly better goal difference, however, a win for Rotherham would send the Owls down to League One regardless of the score in the game at Pride Park.
Darren Moore’s side have picked up their form slightly in recent weeks having only lost one of their last four games in the Championship. Two games stood out for Wednesday last month with a stunning 5-0 victory over Cardiff City and an impressive 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers should give Moore’s men a confidence boost going into the league’s most out-of-form side.
Derby vs Sheffield Wednesday: Match Stats
In the last eight games in which Sheffield Wednesday have scored, their first/only goals of the game has come inside the first half. And Moore will be hoping for much of the same on Saturday as he hopes his side can ease the nerves of this huge relegation clash.
Four of the Owls’ last five games have ended with under 2.5 goals in them, the only exception being their 3-1 trouncing away to Middlesbrough. In comparison, the Rams have proven toothless this season and have only won of their last 14 games which came in a 2-0 victory against Luton Town.
