Derby vs Brentford: Predictions
Derby have not won any of their last five games in the Championship, losing three and drawing two of those. Just as damning, County have only scored one goal across those last five games which came in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest last month. The Rams have managed to pull seven points clear of the drop zone – albeit having played an extra four games than 22nd-placed Rotherham United.
After losing two of their last five, Brentford have dropped out of the top two places with second-placed Watford now three points clear of the Bees. However, Thomas Frank’s side’s last two defeats did come against top of the league Norwich City and the in-form Barnsley.
Despite their league position, Rooney’s side have only conceded three more goals than Tuesday’s visitors. It is a lack of threat in front of goal which is proving an issue for the former Manchester United forward as his Derby side have only found the back of the net 25 times (second lowest to Wycombe Wanderers) this season in the Championship.
Brentford are still within a good chance of making the top two this season with Frank’s side holding a game in hand on Watford who currently hold the second spot. A win for the Bees would take them level on points with the Hornets, however, Brentford hold a slim advantage on goal difference.
Derby vs Brentford: Match Stats
Ivan Toney has had a scintillating season in the Championship this season as he tops the goal scorers tally with 26 goals in the league alone this season. The 24-year-old found his feet straight away in the Championship and has netted twice in his last three games against Stoke City and Blackburn Rovers.
No side has scored more goals than Brentford with the Bees leading the way with 62 goals (Cardiff City closest with 54). However, Rooney’s have only conceded three more goals than Frank’s side which sit 15 places ahead of the struggling County.
