Denmark enter the final batch of Uefa Nations League fixtures top of Group A1, two points clear of Thursday’s opponents Croatia knowing that a draw would be enough to seal their spot in the final four. It’s been a good competition for the Danes who have won three of their opening four matches, losing once, in a group that everyone will have tipped France to win.
A statement was made in Denmark’s very first match as they came from behind to beat France 2-1 thanks to a brace from Andreas Cornelius, and they followed that up by beating Austria by the same scoreline. Denmark’s only defeat did come against Croatia, however, a 1-0 reverse in Copenhagen which prevented the Danes from already having the group wrapped up. They bounced back by beating Austria but these next two matches will truly test Denmark’s mettle.
Despite the standings, Croatia will feel in control of their Uefa Nations League destiny, knowing two wins from their final two matches will send them through to the semi-finals at Denmark’s expense. Not only will a win over Denmark see Croatia leapfrog their opponents, but it will also give them the advantage on head-to-head, meaning a draw against Austria could be enough on the final day if France beat the Danes.
Croatia did lose to Austria in their opening match of the 2022/23 Uefa Nations League, beaten 3-0 at home which put them bottom of the group. The winless start continued as Croatia drew 1-1 with France, but since then things have been on the up. First Croatia beat Denmark and they then recorded a 1-0 win over France to syau on Denmark’s tails. It’ll be an intriguing end to Group A1.

Croatia have a good record against Denmark and they will be looking to continue it this week, winning four of the seven meetings between the two sides including two while keeping a clean sheet.
If you take away the 3-0 defeat to Austria in their opening game, Croatia have been defensively solid in the Nations League. They have conceded just one goal in their past three games though they haven’t exactly been inspiring in attack, scoring three goals in that time.
