Crystal Palace vs Southampton: Predictions
Although fans have expressed their unhappiness with Roy Hodgson’s management, and style of play, Crystal Palace are secure for another Premier League season going into the final few weeks. The Eagles are sitting fairly comfortable in 13th, 14 points clear of Fulham with both teams having four games left to play.
Safety was mathematically secured at the weekend with a 2-0 win over bottom-of-the-league Sheffield United, Crystal Palace’s first win in five, though their winless run including defeats to Chelsea, Leicester City and Manchester City. So now, Crystal Palace will be looking to end the campaign on a high and perhaps start preparing for life after Hodgson.
They face a Southampton side that aren’t mathematically safe, but can be with a win this week. Southampton’s brief moment atop the Premier League is a world away and Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have endured a torrid time of late, winning just three of their 18 Premier League games since the turn of the year.
Southampton go into this particular match winless in their past four, with three defeats, including a 3-0 humiliation at the hands of now-relegated West Bromwich Albion. But they can secure their spot in next season’s Premier League with a win over Crystal Palace, which would keep them at least 10 points above Fulham with three games left to play.

Southampton vs Crystal Palace: Match Stats
After a few years of poor form, Christian Benteke has finally found his way back to goal and enters this game off the back of his seventh goal in the Premier League this season – more than he managed in the previous three campaigns combined. Over the years the Belgian has also found a love for playing on Tuesdays, with 11 goals in 18 Premier League appearances on the second day of the week. Maybe there’s just something about it for Benteke.
Neither Crystal Palace nor Southampton will count themselves among the most exciting teams in the Premier League this season, with only five scoring fewer than the former including all three teams in the relegation zone. Southampton haven’t been much better, and both teams have seen 18 of their Premier League matches end with fewer than three goals scored.
