At the halfway stage of the Premier League season, Newcastle are sitting pretty in the top four but they’ll want to make sure they keep things up for the remainder of the campaign. The Magpies are currently five points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur and on the longest unbeaten run in the Premier League.
Since their controversial 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in August, Newcastle have gone unbeaten in 14 Premier League matches, picking up some impressive results along the way. On top of draws with Manchester United and Arsenal, Newcastle have recorded wins over Tottenham and Chelsea, two of their supposed rivals in the race for the top four. Last time out, they ended a two-game drawing run by beating Fulham thanks to Alexander Isak’s late winner.
Crystal Palace were also grateful for a late goal in their most recent match as Michael Olise’s spectacular injury-time free-kick secured a point at home against Manchester United on Wednesday night. The draw ended a two-match losing streak which had seen Palace beaten by Tottenham and Chelsea, but the Eagles still remain in rather poor form.
In their past six matches, Palace have won just four points, adding a win over Bournemouth to their draw with Man Utd. They have also lost to Fulham and Nottingham Forest during that run, but right now they appear to be safe from the threat of relegation, currently eight points clear of the bottom three.

His overall average of 2.7 chances created per 90 minutes is the highest of any Newcastle player in a single Premier League campaign since at least 2003/04, with a minimum of 1,000 minutes played.
Trippier also forms part of the best defence in the Premier League, which has conceded fewer goals (11) and kept more clean sheets (11) than any other side. The Magpies are currently on a five-game streak without conceded, their longest ever such run in top flight history.
