Chelsea are one of three sides (Liverpool and Man United) are the others to have taken 13 points from their opening five games in the Premier League. They have scored 12 goals and conceded just one and look strong contenders for the title. At Stamford Bridge, they have already seen off Aston Villa and Crystal Palace this season both by the same 3-0 scoreline.
Man City have made a decent start to their campaign with three victories, a draw and one defeat from their first five games. They dominated possession against Southampton last time out but couldn’t find a way to break them down in a game that ended goalless. Away from the Etihad, City have lost two of their last three including an opening day defeat to Tottenham.
Chelsea vs Man City Match Stats
Three of the last six Chelsea have played against other top four sides (Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool) have finished all-square and this is another one that could end in a draw. It would not be the worst result for the London outfit given their easy fixture run coming up while the Citizens might lack the firepower to break down their opponents strong backline.
If a goal is to come then it is likely from a set-piece or the penalty spot as neither side give many big chances away. It is unclear if Jorginho starts given the form of Kovacic in midfield but if he does then he will be on penalties for the hosts and with City missing Stones and Laporte at the back Nathan Ake or Kyle Walker will feature and the former is prone to making mistakes. He gave away a penalty in the Community Shield and if he does the same here Jorginho will be the man on the spot.
