With Manchester City securing the Premier League title and Chelsea earning themselves a top four finish, supporters of both teams will now have their eyes set firmly on the 29th May, with their teams set to do battle for the Champions League trophy.
The Citizens have been on a mission to win this trophy for some time, along with manager Pep Guardiola who has been unable to replicate the success he had in this competition with Barcelona during his spells at Bayern Munich and Manchester City thus far.
But while the Manchester outfit have never reached the final before, their fellow finalists Chelsea have reached this stage twice before, losing to Manchester United in Moscow in 2008 before overcoming Bayern Munich in their Allianz Arena stadium in 2012.
It’s a tough game to call too, for while City appear to have the stronger squad on paper and are set to secure another domestic title with ease, they have already lost twice to the Blues since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival, once in the Premier League and once in the FA Cup Final.
Man City vs Chelsea: Match Stats
Chelsea have stuttered over the line in the final weeks of the season, losing three of their last four games including the FA Cup Final against Leicester City. None of the Blues’ last 12 games have seen more than three goals scored so we anticipate a low-scoring final, with the form and superior quality carrying City through to the win.
Phil Foden has enjoyed a fine season and finished the Premier League campaign in strong form in front of goal, finding the net in City’s last two games against Everton and Brighton. He scored in both legs of the Quarter Final win over Borussia Dortmund and we fancy him to finish the season with a flourish by scoring in the biggest game of his career to date.
