Chelsea vs Krasnodar: Betting tips, predictions, odds & match preview

Chelsea will be looking to end the Champions League group stage unbeaten when they host Russian side Krasnodar on Tuesday night.

Chelsea vs Krasnodar: Predictions

Chelsea have already secured top spot in Group E, thanks to their 4-0 win over Sevilla last week, giving Frank Lampard the opportunity to potentially rest a number of key players ahead of a busy period. But they are still chasing a club record.

The Blues won 13 points from a possible 15 in their first five games of the group, only dropping points in a goalless draw with Sevilla on matchday one. A win against Krasnodar on Tuesday would see Chelsea accumulate 16 points for the first ever time in the Champions League, also becoming just the fourth English side to do so.

Chelsea go into the game in good form, unbeaten in their past 13 games across all competitions since a penalty shootout defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. Lampard may also take heart from the fact Krasnodar also have nothing to play for in the group.

Last week the Russian side secured their spot in the Europa League last-32 thanks to a win over Rennes, who cannot overtake them due to an inferior head-to-head record. As a result, we could see Krasnodar play a slightly weakened side, though the chance for a famous win could influence any team news.

Chelsea vs Krasnodar: Match Stats

Chelsea have a good record in the final group game of the Champions League, losing just one of their 13 such matches. Since defeat to Marseille in their final group game of 2010/11, Chelsea have won six of their seven matches. The Blues also boast the joint-best defence in the Champions League this season, conceding just one goal.

Timo Werner has enjoyed his playing time in the Champions League this season, starting four of Chelsea’s five games so far. The German has found the net in two of those starts, including in the 4-0 win over Krasnodar in October.

Chelsea vs Krasnodar: Head-to-Head

28 October 2020 – Krasnodar 0-4 Chelsea (Champions League)

This is just the second time Chelsea and Krasnodar have faced off, with the Premier League side winning the reverse group fixture 4-0. But the Blues do also have a good record against Russian opposition, winning all five of their matches so far in the Champions League.

Krasnodar have only visited England once more in European competition, beating Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park in the 2014/15 Europa League campaign.
