Chelsea vs Everton: Predictions
Chelsea are hoping to remain within touching distance of Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table. Although the Blues have not been quite so emphatic or impressive so far, they are still very much in a tight title race at the top and a win here would keep them just two points away from the top spot.
The Blues needed a 94th minute penalty to overcome Leeds at the weekend though and they were held by Zenit St Petersburg in what was admittedly a Champions League dead rubber last week just a few short days after a London derby defeat away to West Ham United. They need to raise their game her ahead of a trio of potentially tricky away matches.
Everton’s early season form has all but disappeared at this stage. The Toffees have won just one of their last ten Premier League matches and given that many of the Goodison Park faithful weren’t exactly happy with the hire of former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez in the first place, the Spaniard must now be feeling the pressure at this stage.
A last-gasp win over Arsenal on Monday Night last week could’ve seemed like a turning point at the time, but the men in blue have since clipped to a 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon so confidence is likely to have slipped to low levels again prior to this game. Another defeat here could really start to spell trouble for Benitez.
Chelsea vs Everton: Match Stats
Chelsea have lost a little bit of their defensive solidity recently and indeed, they haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last five games. Both teams have scored in each of Everton’s last three games and both teams have scored in the first half of Chelsea’s last four matches, so we like the look of Kwiff’s 4/1 on that bet to come in again here.
Hakim Ziyech is more likely to take a shot at goal than any other player in the Chelsea squad this season. The former Ajax man is perhaps set for a start in this game having been rested for the visit of Leeds on Saturday and with an average of 2.9 shots per 90 minutes, you can expect him to test Jordan Pickford as often as possible in this game.

Chelsea have actually struggled somewhat against Everton in recent seasons, winning just two of the last seven meetings between the two clubs. They did run out 2-0 winners in the last match-up in March though thanks to a Ben Godfrey own goal and a Jorginho penalty.
