Chelsea sit second in the Premier League table and were in action on Wednesday night seeing off Tottenham 2-0 in the League Cup semi-final first leg. The Blues are now unbeaten in nine across all competitions and still in the running for four trophies. The London outfit have made the final in the last two years and four of the last five. At home, they are unbeaten in 12 although three of their last four at Stamford Bridge have finished all-square.
Chesterfield sit top of the National League with a two point lead over their nearest rivals Halifax. It is 14 games without defeat in all competitions for the Spireites as they look to return to the big time. They are managed by James Rowe while their main goal threat comes from Kabongo Tshimanga who has 18 goals already this season. On the road, they are unbeaten in their last seven winning five of these.
Chelsea vs Chesterfield: Match Stats
The home side will be much changed but should still have enough class to see of their non-league opponents. Thomas Tuchel will want his side to wrap this one up early so back the hosts to cover a one goal handicap start in the first-half which has happened in the last three Chelsea cup games at home to non Premier League outfits.
Ross Barkley will likely feature here and while he has become buried in the midfield order he is still a player of quality who should be given plenty of licence to shine here. His attacking runs from midfield will be key to breaking down a defensive wall and he is backed to score at any time here.
