Aston Villa are actually unbeaten in their last four games but back-to-back lifeless draws with Leeds and Aston Villa have done little to lift the mood around the team. They are down in 16th and have won just two of their last 13 top-flight games.
At Villa Park, they have been decent this season with two victories (over Everton and Southampton), a draw (with Man City) and one solitary defeat (to West Ham). Fans of goals should not head to this stadium with just four produced in total from the last three.
Chelsea put themselves into a strong position to qualify for the Champions League after a victory in midweek against AC Milan. Their 3-0 victory over Wolves last time out in the Premier League made it three straight league successes and has moved them into fourth place.
Away from home, the Blues have been a mixed bag this season with victories at Everton and Crystal Palace but defeats at Southampton and Leeds. Graham Potter will want to keep on their defending on the road as they have shipped six times in their last three.
Aston Villa vs Chelsea: Match Stats
Two teams in differing form and with different confidence levels do battle here and it is hard to see anything but a road win. The last three Chelsea league games have seen them come out on top and the game to have under 3.5 goals and this looks a good bet here. Aston Villa have netted just two times in their last three matches and they are unlikely to contribute much to the goal tally.
Graham Potter like getting his centre-backs forward at set-pieces when manager of Brighton (Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Adam Webster have all had goalscoring runs) and he looks to be doing the same as boss of Chelsea. Last weekend Trevoh Chalobah registered two shots while Kalidou Koulibaly had one. The former might not feature here but the latter looks set to do so and as such he looks worth backing to at least have one shot on target against a Villa defence who have looked exposed at set-pieces.
