Cardiff v West Brom: Betting tips, predictions, odds & match preview
West Bromwich Albion will be looking to boost their chances of reaching the Championship play-offs when they travel to face Cardiff City on Wednesday at 7:45pm (UK time).
A game that will have an impact at both ends of the table, West Brom find themselves on the periphery of the play-off spaces with 10 games left to play and still very much in the battle. The Baggies are currently eighth, four points behind Blackburn in the sixth and final play-off spot in what has been a drastic change to life at the Hawthorns.
When Steve Bruce was sacked in October, West Brom were 22nd and looking more likely to be in League One in 2023/24 than the Premier League, but Carlos Corberan has the Baggies firing. In 20 games in the Championship, West Brom have won 13 times with six defeats and go into this match with three wins from their past four.
Cardiff have also changed managers this season, albeit much more recently, with Sabri Lamouchi coming in to replace Mark Hudson in January. When Hudson was sacked, Cardiff were 21st and they remain there after eight games under Lamouchi, three points clear of the relegation zone.
After three successive defeats in his first three games, Lamouchi has overseen three wins in his past five league matches, opening up the gap on the three teams below them. However, they do go into this game off the back of a defeat to Preston North End, reminding fans that the relegation battle is far from over.

Cardiff v West Brom match stats
Both Cardiff and West Brom are in interesting form when it comes to scoring goals and keeping clean sheets of late. The Baggies have won three of their past four Championship matches, keeping a clean sheet in their victories and failing to score in their defeat to Hull. At the same time, all three of Cardiff’s wins under Lamouchi have brought clean sheets but the Bluebirds have also failed to score on four occasions.
Brandon Thomas-Asante has missed West Brom’s past three games due to injury but had been tipped to return against Huddersfield Town at the weekend. In the end, the game proved to be too soon, but the striker could play a role on Wednesday. If he is, Thomas-Asante will be looking to trouble the Cardiff defence and has averaged 3.44 shots per 90 minutes in the Championship this season.
