Mick McCarthy’s side have nothing more than pride at stake on Saturday having blown their hopes of a place in the play-offs with six draws in their last 13 league games. However, all eyes will be on this game with Rotherham United needing a win and Derby County not to win to keep their Championship status.
The Millers are without a win in their last seven games which will certainly play on their minds going into this game against a Cardiff side sat pretty up in eighth spot. But there is no better time than this weekend for Paul Warne’s side to record their first win since beating QPR last month and if they hope to stay up they have no other option but to win.
Warne’s men will be hoping Sheffield Wednesday can hold Wayne Rooney’s side to at least a draw at Pride Park. Having been promoted just last season from League One, the Millers’ fate lies in the hands of others but they should take some confidence from Cardiff’s emphatic 5-0 defeat to the Owls just a matter of weeks ago.

Unfortunately for Rotherham, the Championship’s fourth top scorer will be looking to add some last chance goals to his 2020/21 account on Saturday. Kieffer Moore has been in fine form this season and the 28-year-old will see this game against one of the league’s leakiest defences as a great opportunity to add to his 20 goals already to his name.
Only four sides have conceded more goals in the Championship this season and although Warne will be looking for solidity at the back on the weekend, they will be up against the fourth-highest scorers in the league. Sheffield Wednesday have proven it is possible to beat Cardiff as the underdogs but they could leave themselves exposed with needing all three points.
