Nottingham Forest’s form has flatlined in recent weeks, which has them plummet down the Premier League table and into the relegation zone. Steve Cooper’s men are winless in 11 matches and caught in the riptide of a four-game losing streak. They simply cannot afford to watch further points fall by the wayside.

After an inauspicious start to the campaign, it looked as though Cooper found the right formula just after the World Cup to climb the table. But, Forest have reverted to type in recent months and are now dangerously walking the tightrope, though they will certainly feel emboldened by a recent 3-2 loss to Liverpool at Anfield in which they could have come away with a point.

Brighton meanwhile will have to pick themselves back up after losing to Man Utd on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final. Roberto De Zerbi’s men squandered several glaring opportunities in normal time before coming up short from 12 yards at Wembley. Attention now returns to the Premier League.

The Seagulls continue to flirt with the European places and enter this match-up fresh from a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. That result has seen them sit 10 points below fourth-placed Man Utd but with a game in hand, and they face their Wembley adversaries in just three games.

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton match stats

Despite missing the decisive penalty that cost Brighton a place in the FA Cup final, Solly March has been one of the club’s most important players this term and will be determined to bounce back. That importance is reflected by the fact that only Ollie Watkins (43) and Ivan Toney (41) have had more shots on target among non-Big Six players in the Premier League this season than March (31).

In face, the 28-year-old has been directly involved in 12 goals in his last 15 Premier League games, scoring seven and assisting five. Overall, he’s had a hand in 14 Premier League goals in 29 games this season (seven goals, seven assists).

Scoreline prediction: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Brighton

Nottingham Forest vs Brighton head-to-head

18 Oct 2022 — Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest — Premier League

04 Mar 2017 — Nottingham Forest 3-0 Brighton — Championship

12 Aug 2016 — Brighton 3-0 Nottingham Forest — Championship

11 Apr 2016 — Nottingham Forest 1-2 Brighton — Championship

7 Aug 2015 — Brighton 1-0 Nottingham Forest — Championship

It was a scoreless draw at the Amex back in October, and that reflects a fairly even head-to-head record between these clubs in recent memory. Incredibly, you would have to go back to 2016 (some seven years ago) for the last time Brighton won at the City Ground and Lewis Dunk was a scorer in that game, underlining his longevity at the back for the Seagulls.
