Bournemouth vs Rotherham: Predictions
Jonathan Woodgate will be hoping he can put in a serious claim for the permanent role of Bournemouth’s vacant managerial role with a convincing win against Rotherham on Wednesday night. The caretaker manager has recorded two wins including a shock 2-0 victory in the FA Cup against Premier League side Burnley. With established names linked with the role, Woodgate will be looking to convince the owners on Wednesday night.
Rotherham sit dangerously just one point above the relegation zone in 21st place. However, United will be hoping they can at least replicate their impressive 2-2 draw with the Cherries earlier in the season as they aim to drag themselves away from the drop zone.
Woodgate’s first game in charge saw the Cherries slump to a disappointing 2-1 defeat against the struggling Sheffield Wednesday, so the former-England international will be hoping his side can avoid another slip up as they aim to strengthen their place in the top six of the Championship table.
The Cherries have failed to impress since the turn of the year in the league, having only recorded two wins since the turn of the year the Seasiders have watched their hopes of automatic promotion fade away with second-placed Brentford now 11 points clear of Woodgate’s side.
Bournemouth vs Rotherham: Match Stats
Jefferson Lerma leads the Championship’s disciplinary chart with eight yellow cards and one red card over the course of this season. The Colombian is at the heart of Bournemouth’s midfield and is not worried about receiving a card if it helps his side against the transition. Although Bournemouth are expected to dominate the game, Lerma could be forced to act against the counter-attack on occasions.
The Cherries (43) have scored the second-most goals in the Championship this season – only behind Brentford (55). Dominic Solanke has spearheaded their attack with 10 goals in the league and with the departure of Josh King, more pressure will be on the English striker to add to his double-figure tally when he returns from his injury.
