Bayern Munich vs Dortmund: Predictions
After taking just one point from two games following their successful Club World Cup campaign in Qatar, Bayern got themselves back on track with a 5-1 thrashing of FC Köln, following up on an impressive 4-1 Champions League win over Lazio last week. Hansi Flick’s men are just two points clear of RB Leipzig at the top of the table with 11 games still to play, so can ill afford any more slip-ups between now and the end of the season.
While Dortmund have often been Bayern’s closest challengers over the past decade, the Black and Yellow are nowhere near the title conversation this season. Interim manager Erdin Terzic has struggled to steady the ship following Lucien Favre’s dismissal, with Dortmund sitting down in fifth, three points adrift of Leverkusen in fourth and a massive 13 points behind Bayern. That said, Terzic’s men do hold a 3-2 lead over Sevilla in the Champions League round-of-16, while they beat Gladbach to advance to the DFB-Pokal semi-finals in mid-week, so a successful campaign is still on the cards.04
