Having both missed out on a play-off spot in 2022/23, Blackburn and West Brom will be looking to put the disappointment of last season behind them when they go head-t0-head at Ewood Park.
Rovers missed out on a top six finish on goal difference to Sunderland despite an enthralling final day game against Millwall that saw them come from 3-1 down to win 4-3 at the Den. On the whole, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s first season back in England was a success, but he will be hoping his side can push on again this season and gain promotion back to the Premier League, despite the loss of last season’s top goalscorer Ben Brereton Diaz to Villarreal.
Opponents West Brom, went from second bottom after 16 games to a respectable ninth place finish after Carlos Corberan was appointed in October, missing out on the play-offs on the final day. The Spaniard was heavily linked to take over at Leeds, but committed himself to the club in the hope of guiding them back to the promised land.
The Baggies fell off towards the end of last season, losing three of their final four league matches, so it will be vital they put that behind them and get off to a good start here.
