Belgium vs Wales: Predictions

Wales will be looking to repeat their dramatic 3-1 win over Belgium in the Euro 2016 competition which saw Chris Coleman’s side progress to their first-ever semi-final of a major tournament. Despite going a goal down early on in the game, the Dragons fought back to complete the shock result of the tournament.

Belgium enter the World Cup Qualifiers on the back of cruising to the top of their Euro 2020 qualifying group having won all 10 of their games and only conceding three goals along the way. Roberto Martinez’s side are still ranked as the world’s number one national side and they will be looking to assert their dominance come Wednesday night.

The Red Devils have been boosted by news Romelu Lukaku will be able to join the squad amid fears of a COVID breakout in the Inter Milan camp. Whereas Wales will also be boosted by the return to form of Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale after the winger has shown glimpses of his old self in recent weeks.

Wales will be without Ryan Giggs on the sideline as the former-Manchester United midfielder serves his bail order following an ongoing legal case. Robert Page will take temporary charge and he will be looking at the likes of Bale to take the lead over in Belgium.

Belgium vs Wales: Match Stats

Romelu Lukaku has been in blistering form this season as the 27-year-old sits second in the Serie A goalscorers chart, only behind Cristiano Ronaldo. In his 26 appearances in the Italian top flight this season Lukau has found the back of the net on 19 occasions and he will certainly be looking to open his account in the World Cup Qualifiers.

Belgium’s Kevin de Bruyne has too been in stunning form this season for Manchester City. The 29-year-old has registered 11 assists in the Premier League alone this season which is only second to Tottenham’s Harry Kane (13).
