Barnsley have it all to do in this Championship Playoff semi-final second leg on Saturday night after falling to a one goal defeat in the first leg. Andre Ayew’s strike gave Swansea City the narrow victory and gives them the advantage as they head back to South Wales for the second leg on Saturday night.
But wouldn’t it just be typical of this Barnsley team to silence the doubters one last time this season though? Their physical, direct style has been so hard for many teams to handle this season and it’s credit to manager Valérien Ismaël that the team have continued to defy expectations in even earning a top six finish in the first place.
But Swansea are one of the few teams that have had the better of the Tykes this term. Steve Cooper’s men have won both of the regular season games by a two goal margin and after winning at Oakwell on Monday evening, they will have confidence in themselves to get the job done on home turf.
With the vociferous Swans fanbase back in the Liberty Stadium for this one, Barnsley will have their work cut out to turn the tie on it’s head as the Welsh outfit look to go one better than their semi-final defeat to Brentford last campaign.
