PSG vs Barcelona: Predictions

PSG will be looking to avoid another Champions League nightmare against Barcelona with the French side all-but in the quarter-finals of the competition. Barcelona came back from a 4-0 first-leg defeat against PSG in 2017 to beat the Parisians 6-1 in the second leg to progress into the Champions League quarter-finals.

Pochettino’s side ran riot in the Nou Camp just a few weeks ago, despite going behind early on, wonder kid Kylian Mbappe stole the show with a stunning hat trick which saw PSG put one foot into the next round. Barça took the lead early on against the run of play, but the quality of Pochettino’s side prevailed.

Barcelona showed they are still capable of a comeback after they came back from a 2-0 aggregate deficit to Sevilla during the week with a 3-0 win on the night at the Nou Camp which saw Ronald Koeman’s side advance into the Copa del Rey final.

Both sides kept clean sheets on the weekend, PSG winning 3-0 against Brest in the French Cup and Barcelona beating Osasuna 2-0 in La Liga to maintain their place in second spot.

PSG vs Barcelona: Match Stats

Youngster Mbappe stole the show last time out at the Nou Camp and since the emphatic victory, the 20-year-old has scored twice [SATURDAY GAME]  in Ligue 1 as the French forward leads the way as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals. However, Mbappe trails fellow wonderkid Erling Haaland (8) in the Champions League top scorers with five goals in the European competition.

Lionel Messi has scored 119 Champions League goals over his stunning career, however, many feel this could be his final game playing in the competition with a future away from Barcelona looking to be a real possibility. Messi netted from the spot in the first-leg and will be looking to add at least one more to his Champions League tally on Wednesday.
