Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Betting tips, predictions, odds & match preview

It’s eighth versus seventh in the Premier League on Sunday as Arsenal welcome Aston Villa to the Emirates.

Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Predictions

Aston Villa travel to the capital this weekend looking to follow up from July’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal and register consecutive league wins over the Gunners for the first time since 1998, but Mikel Arteta’s side will be in high spirits after winning at Old Trafford for the first time since 2006 last time out.

Indeed Arsenal had not won a Premier League match against Man Utd in their backyard for 14 years, but a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty got the job done for Arteta and piled further pressure upon the shoulders of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

For Villa it hasn’t quite been plain sailing since following up from that 7-2 demolition job on Liverpool with a 1-0 win over Leicester. Dean Smith’s side have lost back-to-back games against Leeds and Southampton, conceding seven goals in that time and losing some of their early-season momentum.

The paradox for Villa entering this match is that they are the only side yet to concede on the road this campaign, while they were the only side not to keep a clean sheet on their travels last term. So, can they maintain that newfound hot streak, or will they succumb to their 2019/20 form?

Arsenal vs Aston Villa: Match Stats

Villa may be on a run of two defeats but they enter this contest with the league’s third-most productive player in captain Jack Grealish. Only Tottenham pair Harry Kane (14) and Son Heung-min (10) have been involved in more goals than the Villa skipper (eight).

But, he faces an Arsenal side who have won their last three home league games against Aston Villa by an aggregate scoreline of 12-2, while Arteta boasts the best defensive record so far this season, conceding just seven times. Grealish should have a say in this tie, but the Gunners will be confident of a win.
