Arsenal are perfect in the Europa League this season and have secured their spot in the knockout stages but still need to determine which path they will take. In case you may have forgotten, the winners of the Europa League groups go directly into the last 16 while the runners-up must face the Champions League dropouts in the knockout round play-offs. Arsenal need just two points from their final two matches to guarantee their spot in the last 16, but a draw against PSV will also do the job.
The Gunners started their Europa League campaign with a 2-1 win over FC Zurich in Switzerland and followed that up with back-to-back wins over Bodo/Glimt without conceding, avoiding the banana skin that had caught Roma and Celtic in the Europa Conference League last season. Last time out brought their biggest test but they passed it with flying colours, comfortable in their 1-0 victory over PSV despite the close scoreline.
While PSV cannot seal a spot in the last 16 this week they can secure a place in the knockout stages. The Dutch side have to avoid defeat and hope Bodo/Glimt lose, or win while Bodo/Glimt draw. Matching Bodo/Glimt’s result would see next week’s match become a showdown for the final knockout stage spot. When those sides last met, it was a 1-1 draw in the opening game of the group stage, with Cody Gakpo scoring a second-half equaliser for PSV.
PSV then turned on the style in their double-header with Zurich, securing two wins with 10 goals scored and just one conceded. A 5-1 win away preceded a 5-0 win at home, taking advantage of Bodo/Glimt losing twice against Arsenal. However, their winning run came to an end at the Emirates and they did follow that up with another defeat in the Eredivisie at the weekend.

Arsenal have been formidable defensively in the Europa League this season. Although they have conceded once, that goal came via a Mirlind Kryeziu penalty in the opening 2-1 win over Zurich. The Gunners are yet to concede from open play and have won their past three Europa League matches while keeping a clean sheet.
