Argentina vs Colombia 2024 Copa America final prediction: Can Los Cafeteros deny a La Albiceleste repeat?
Argentina vs Colombia Latest Prediction
The defending champions have dominated this year’s tournament, conceding only one goal. They defeated surprise package Canada in the semi-finals. La Albiceleste are aiming to secure their third consecutive major international tournament win. While Lionel Messi has yet to hit his stride, Lautaro Martínez and Julián Álvarez have led the attack for Argentina whenever they’re called upon to support Messi. Argentina’s solid defensive unit has been a key factor in their recent string of title wins.
Despite much speculation, this game will not be Messi’s last for his country.
“As I’ve said before, I intend to continue,” he told reporters. “I intend to keep living day by day without thinking about what will come in the future or whether I’ll continue or not. It’s something I just live each day. I’m 37 years and only God knows when the end will be.”
Di Maria though does intend to retire. The 36-year-old Di Maria made his international debut in 2008 and has 31 goals in 144 appearances.
“It’s my last battle. There’s nothing left to say that I haven’t said a lot of times before,” he explained. “It’s my last game. I have to say thank you to all Argentineans and to this generation that has allowed me to lift so many trophies.”
The showdown between Argentina and Colombia occurs at 1am on Monday 15th July at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, United States.
The only time Los Cafeteros were crowned the kings of South America was in 2001. Remarkably, they haven’t reached the final since then. This is only the third time in history that Colombia has reached the final of the Copa América. They have been strong in attack throughout the tournament, but they showed a different side to their game as they beat Uruguay 1-0 in the semifinal, despite playing with one less man for over half the game after Crystal Palace’s Daniel Muñoz was sent off. Los Cafeteros are on a remarkable 28-game unbeaten run, and with James Rodríguez and Luis Díaz leading the attack, they have a real cutting edge and will make life very difficult for Argentina.

Argentina has no injury or suspension concerns and is expected to line up exactly as they did against Canada. Their narrow formation has allowed Alexis Mac Allister and Ángel Di María to get on the ball frequently. Julián Álvarez is set to start ahead of Lautaro Martínez up top. At the same time, Lionel Scaloni’s defensive unit remains settled with Emiliano Martínez in goal and Cristian Romero and Lisandro Martínez ahead of him at centre-back.

Daniel Muñoz is suspended for the final, so Colombia will make a change at right back, with Santiago Arias likely to come in. James Rodríguez and Luis Díaz have worked so well for Colombia in attack, with Jhon Córdoba up front.
