Alaves picked up a useful point in their relegation battle last time out drawing 2-2 away to Getafe. They still sit second bottom on 21 points having managed a victory in just one of their last 14. Each of their last four matches have gone over 2.5 goals and produced 14 goals in total. Former Newcastle and Stoke man Joselu has been among the goals recently with two in his last four.
At home, they are proving difficult opponents with Barcelona the only one of the last five teams to visit here to come out on top. They even managed a victory in their latest home game defeating Valencia 2-1. Joselu is a player who performs well at home with six in his last eight here. In just one of the last seven in front of their own fans have Alaves netted the opener.
Sevilla defeated Real Betis 2-1 last time out to keep the pressure on Real Madrid and extend their unbeaten run to 12 league games. They sit six points behind Real and stay have to host them on April 17th. Rafa Mir is in decent scoring form for them with two goals from his last three. In only one of their last 12 games have the title chasers conceded more than one goal.
On the road, they are unbeaten in five although each of the last three of these have finished all-square. Goals are in short supply with none of their last five away games going over 2.5 goals and producing just six in total. In just one of their last five on their travels have they conceded a first-half goal. Picking up points on the road will be key to whether Seville can really challenge Madrid for the title or not.
Alaves vs Sevilla: Match Stats
Sevilla have drawn their last three on the road but they are still the second best team in Spain and are scheduled to face the second worst side. The price on offer looks too good to ignore and a straight Sevilla victory is the betting choice. Alaves have lost most meetings with top-half sides here this season and this looks too big a gulf in class.
Alaves lost 3-0 when they faced Real Madrid while they have been amongst the goals themselves in recent weeks. Backing the game to have over 2.5 goals and a Sevilla victory also looks a good value bet.
The reverse fixture came on November 20th and it ended 2-2 that day with Alaves twice taking the lead only to be pegged back. Sevilla are unbeaten in their last 11 head-to-heads but many of the meetings have been drawn or settled by a single goal. Lucas Ocampos has two from his last four against Alaves.
