AC Milan vs Inter: Predictions
AC Milan will be hoping to clinch all three points on Sunday as the winner of the Milan derby will not only have bragging rights of the City, but will also sit pretty top of Serie A. Milan will also be looking to bounce back from their shock 2-0 defeat last time out against Spezia which saw their rivals leapfrog them into top spot.
Inter took the lead in the race for the Serie A title on the weekend after an impressive 3-1 victory over European-hopefuls, Lazio. A brace from Romelu Lukaku not only earned his side top spot in the league but took him level in goals with Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the Serie A Golden Boot.
Sunday’s hosts had to travel to Serbia during the week to face Red Star Belgrade in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 32 ties. Although Milan will take two away goals back to the San Siro, a last-gasp goal from Belgrade clawed back a 2-2 draw on the night.
The two sides met just a few weeks ago, in the Coppa Italia quarter-final a stoppage-time Christian Eriksen saw Inter prevail. One of the main talking points from the game was Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s red card and heated interaction with Lukaku.

AC Milan vs Inter: Match Stats
Lukaku and Ibrahimovic have stolen the headlines in both of the meetings between these sides this season – not all for the right reasons. The pair have scored five goals between them over the course of the two meetings this season and they are expected to provide their sides with the cutting edge this Sunday.
AC Milan’s Europa League tie will not have helped their confidence going into the Milan derby on the weekend. Milan were all-but over the line on Thursday night but the Italian side conceded a 93rd-minute goal to the 10-man Red Star Belgrade. It is also seen across the leagues that teams struggle on the back of their Europa League games.
26 January 2021 – Inter 2-1 AC Milan – Coppa Italia
17 October 2020 – AC Milan 2-1 Inter – Serie A
9 February 2020 – Inter 4-2 AC Milan – Serie A
21 September 2019 – AC Milan 0-2 Inter – Serie A
Inter have edged the recent meetings between the two sides, however, the majority of them have been incredibly close and the most recent was heavily influenced by the red card received by Ibrahimovic early in the second half.
