The best 3.5 and 4 star teams to use in FIFA 20
When it comes to FIFA 20, not everyone wants to play with the best teams.
For some, being able to rely on players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Kylian Mbappe makes the game too easy. So 4.5 and 5 star teams are lost on them.
Instead, people like a challenge. Perhaps finding an obscure team to master, or a well-known name without the best talents in FIFA 20.
But even then, choosing the right team to suit your particular style can be a laborious task, so we at Squawka have tried to make it a bit simpler for you.
Here is our top eight most exciting 3.5 and 4 star teams to play with on FIFA 20. If we’ve missed your favourite FIFA 20 team out, let us know in the comments section below
The best 3.5 star teams on FIFA 20
Wales
Wales are only 3.5 stars on FIFA 20, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use them.
Naturally, the star of the show is Gareth Bale, who, despite being downgraded to 85 overall, is still very much a threat. The Welsh winger is categorised as a right-sider by default but his overall stats are strong enough to play him down the middle. Mostly, this is courtesy of his 83 finishing and 92 shot power.
But if you do prefer him on the wing, his pace, dribbling and crossing turns him into a great provider for whoever you position through the middle, be it Harry Wilson, Sam Vokes or Kieffer Moore.
Aside from Bale, Wales also have Aaron Ramsey ready to go in midfield with solid passing and good dribbling, meaning he can either go through defenders on his own or set up teammates. Then there’s Daniel James, with his 95 pace ready to get your counter attacks going.
Celtic
Like Wales, some may feel Celtic are slightly underrated in FIFA 20 but you can use that to your advantage.
Despite their 3.5 star rating, the Scottish champions do have a pretty solid side led by striker Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman has been key for Celtic over the past few seasons and he can cause some problems for opposition defences with his 83 pace and 73 shooting.
On either flank, Celtic boast tricky wingers in Mohamed Elyounoussi and James Forrest, both of whom have four-star skill moves and decent crossing stats – the perfect combo with Edouard in the middle.
Celtic also have pace in full-backs Boli Bolingoli and Jeremie Frimpong, who you could instruct to overlap when in attack, virtually giving you four wingers.
And if you do get countered, Celtic have a pretty defence defensive duo of Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien, protected by Scott Brown and his 88 aggression.
Red Bull Salzburg
Red Bull Salzburg were raided in January, losing Takumi Minamino and Erling Braut Haaland, but that should not put you off using them.
With Haaland gone, the star man up front is Hwang Hee Chan, with pace of 91 and decent dribbling on 79. He’s now joined in attack by the equally pacy Patson Daka, who also boasts 88 jumping and 72 physicality to perhaps turn into a target man.
Behind them is a solid midfield including 77-rated Zlatko Junuzovic, whose creativity will be key for unleashing the attack. The midfielder has 81 crossing and 88 curve to go with 89 stamina, meaning he will be able to keep up with your opponents all game – not to mention his four-star weak foot.
Definitely one to consider for a long-term career mode.
Al Hilal
Moving into a more niche league, Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia provide an interesting 3.5 star prospect.
The main man of this team is former Juventus product Sebastian Giovinco, now 33, who arrived in 2019 after leaving MLS. Despite perhaps not living up to the lofty expectations of his early career, Giovinco still boats four-star weak foot and four-star skills moves, proving more than capable of breaking through defences.
He’s joined in attack by another well-known name, Bafetimbi Gomis who is 81-rated and has 82 shooting and 76 dribbling to go with his own four-star skill moves. In fact, of Al Hilal’s four default attacking players in their 4-2-3-1 formation, no player has lower than four-star skill moves and only Gomis has lower than a four-star weak foot.
The defensive players do leave quite a bit to be desired but who needs to keep a clean sheet when you’ve got skills and goals galore further up the pitch.
The best 4 star teams on FIFA 20
Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad aren’t doing too badly in La Liga this season and they also represent a pretty sweet 4 star option on FIFA 20.
At the heart of their team is young Martin Odegaard. He, despite being recognised as a winger, is designated as a central option on FIFA 20. But this is to your benefit. With his five-star skill moves and 84 dribbling, the 20-year-old is as big a danger as any through the middle of the pitch and when playing just behind the striker can bring goals galore.
That striker will most likely be Willian Jose, who boasts 81 shooting and 81 physical – a decent amount considering he is only 82 rated. Not only that, Willian Jose also has four-star weak foot and skill moves, making his a genuine all-round danger in his team.
Moving further back, Sociedad boast the likes of Mikel Merino, Igor Zubeldia and Asier Illarramedi among their midfield options, providing the good defensive cover required with a team so attack-heavy. Nacho Monreal also gives some solidity at left-back, but his pace means he’s better off staying away from the attack unless you want to get countered.
Sociedad also have the likes of Adnan Januzaj and Alexander Isak on their bench should you desire fresh options, though Mikel Oyarzabal and Portu should keep you satisfied on the wings.
Galatasaray
Galatasaray had a crazy transfer window in the summer of 2019 and it has made them a genuinely interesting team to use in FIFA 20, like a throwback Premier League XI.
The big name of the lot is Falcao who, at 82 rated, still can produce the goals if you’re not too hung up on pace. The Colombian has 83 finishing and 87 jumping but just 64 sprint speed.
However, he can be flanked by Omer Bayram and Sofiane Feghouli who have 82 and 86 pace respectively. Additionally, Feghouli 4-star skill moves and decent crossing stats, ensuring he can cause various problems to opposition defenders.
In the middle of the pitch, Galatasaray have a solid midfield trio that will provide a good screen for your back-line without stifling creativity. Mario Lemina and Steven Nzonzi are both effective tacklers but also possess impressive passing stats, helping to keep possession away in the opponent’s half.
And if they are beaten, then Christian Luyindama is an absolute rock at the back, with 92 strength and 84 aggression, ready to bully any striker that comes his way.
Wolves
Wolves are certainly an interesting team to use on FIFA 20 if you find the right system for them and you.
After initially running with a 5-3-2, Wolves now set up in a 5-2-3 by default, allowing them – and you – to utilise Adama Traore. The Spaniard is one of the fastest players in FIFA 20, boasting 96 pace and has 85 dribbling to go with it.
Putting him attack alongside the likes of Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez will cause problems for your opponents. The latter, rated 82 overall after a mini boost, has decent stats across the board and his 83 finishing will be crucial to ensure you make the most of your attacks.
But perhaps the real highlight of the team, for those who enjoy possession football, is the midfield partnership of Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves. Moutinho’s short passing of 87 should not be overlooked while his long passing isn’t far behind at 85. Neves is fairly similar with high-levels for passing but players might want to try and make the most of his 84 long shots.
Besiktas
We return to Turkey for Besiktas, certainly an interesting proposition. While there are no standout players in terms of overall rating (Adem Ljajic is their highest-rated player, at 81), as a unit this can work.
Ljajic is still very much a key player, boasting 84 dribbling and 80 passing to go with 4-star weak foot and skill moves. The Serbian midfielder is a real threat through the middle.
But if playing at high speed is more your game, then look no further than Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Abdoulay Diaby on the wings. The veteran of the pair, Diaby, has a frightening pace of 93 combined with 75 dribbling to cause problems on either the left or the right. Meanwhile, Nkoudou also boasts pace of 93, which can see him hurt defences if you make use of his 72 crossing and 74 curve. And to put away the chances you create is Burak Yilmaz, with finishing of 82 and shot power at 85.
Besiktas aren’t just exciting in attack, however, with the club also boasting the likes of Mohamed Elneny and Domagoj Vida among their defensive players.
