Despite the game being just over four months old, there is still untold excitement surrounding FIFA 20.

The game seems to have found a new level when it comes to Ultimate Team, while Volta mode offers a freshness FIFA has been missing for a while. But, for some, classic 11 vs 11 remains the favourite. Whether that’s in Kick Off against friends, online in Seasons or starting a Career Mode, there’s no better way to experience the realness of FIFA 20.

But, choosing the right team to suit your particular style can be a laborious task, so we at Squawka have tried to make it a bit simpler for you.

We’ve got you covered. Here is our top ten most exciting 4.5 and 5-star teams to play with on FIFA 20.

4.5 star teams

Napoli

Despite boasting an interesting side, Napoli remain 4.5 rated on FIFA 20. After a run of 4-4-2 with Carlo Ancelotti, the arrival of Gennaro Gattuso has brought the return of a 4-3-3, albeit with a slightly flatter midfield.

FIFA 20 4.5 star teams: Napoli

Lorenzo Insigne is the main man on the wing with the ability to break down defences, boasting 94 acceleration, 91 dribbling and 94 agility – on top of 85 crossing and 86 short passing. A player like that needs someone to cross to and in Arkadiusz Milik, you’d have just that. The Polish striker comes in with 88 finishing, ready to complete fast-breaks made through Insigne. Or, bring Dries Mertens in and re-jig the offence.

But it’s not just in attack where Napoli can cause your opponents danger. Allan has received a boost in midfield with a current rating of 84, and is more than capable of patrolling the middle of the pitch with 88 standing tackle and 94 stamina. Further back, Napoli boast an enviable centre-back pairing of Kalidou Koulibaly and Kostas Manolas. Koulibaly is the definition of rock solid in defence, with 95 strength and 89 standing tackle contributing to his 88 rating, while Manolas has 85 standing tackle and 87 sliding tackle.

A nice well-rounded team.

Inter Milan

If being defensively solid is more your style, then look no further than Inter Milan. There may not be a better back three in FIFA 20 than the one the Nerazzurri currently boast.

FIFA 20 4.5 star teams: Inter Milan

In Milan Skriniar, Stefan de Vrij and Diego Godin, Inter provide three very capable centre-backs with respective strengths in different parts of the game. Skriniar is the man for keeping opposition strikers quiet, with 92 marking and 86 interceptions as well as an impressive 85 strength. De Vrij is strong in the tackle, with 87 standing and 84 sliding, ensuring any player who does get the better of Skriniar will still have a long way to go before scoring. Then there’s Godin, still 87-rated with 90 marking, 90 jumping and 87 strength – hardly any players will be bullying him on the pitch.

And if that wasn’t enough, behind them is 88-rated Samir Handanovic – one of the top 10 goalkeepers in FIFA 20.

Inter do also have some promise in attack, most notably Romelu Lukaku who boasts 95 strength, 87 shot power and 86 finishing after a good campaign so far. The Belgian also has 84 sprint speed, meaning once you get him going, he can give anyone a decent foot race. And soon they will have Christian Eriksen among their FIFA 20 ranks.

RB Leipzig

Following Julian Nagelsmann’s arrival in Saxony in the summe, RB Leipzig are certainly an interesting side – if they weren’t already.

FIFA 20 4.5 star teams: RB Leipzig

Nagelsmann initially set out his side with a 5-3-2 formation before changing to a 4-2-2-2 system recently, but with the former you could become a decent counter-attacking side.

For Leizpig, it’s all about pace, particularly for star forward Timo Werner. The currently 86-rated striker has 93 acceleration and 91 sprint speed, meaning he will hurt defences when running in behind, and he also has the capability to score with 88 finishing. It might not be the prettiest style of football, but it will be effective. Werner is joined by more than capable players across the rest of the pitch including Yussuf Poulsen, Emil Forsberg and Marcel Halstenburg to complete a side capable of causing problems in the right hands.

Brazil

Want a strange experience of international football? Play as Brazil in FIFA 20.

FIFA 20 4.5 star teams: Brazil

Coming in with a rating of 4.5 stars, Brazil are a strange concept once again with EA Sports losing the licence for the league and national team. As a result, the Selecao are filled with generic players – except for Neymar.

So, leading the line instead of Roberto Firmino or Gabriel Jesus is Louri Beretta. Ronaldo Cabrais occupies the opposite wing to Neymar, with a rating of 83 while Raphaelito Anjos starts in goal. This team will no doubt rely heavily on Neymar, but you can show your FIFA skills by mastering a side full of made up players.

Or you could just edit the Brazil roster and add in the actual players, but where’s the fun in that?!

Netherlands Women

The fact that the Netherlands Women’s national side are not a five-star team is bewildering.

FIFA 20 4.5 star teams: Netherlands Women

Finishing runners-up at the recent Women’s World Cup, losing only to a spectacular USA side, the Oranje have a frightening side filled with stars.

Starting from the top, there may not be a better attacking trio among the women’s teams included in FIFA 20. On the wings, 90-rated Lieke Martens is an absolute dynamite with five-star skills moves, 92 dribbling and 90 crossing, making her one of the best players in the world. She is joined by Shanice van de Sanden who can rip through defences with 94 acceleration and 95 sprint speed.

This would all be worthless, however, if the Netherlands did not have the absolute finisher of Vivianne Miedema at centre-forward. The nation’s all-time top scorer has been boosted to an overall rating of 90, with 92 finishing, 90 long shots, 89 shot power and 88 volleys. Wow.

But it doesn’t stop there, with the likes of pass masters Danielle van de Donk and Jackie Groenen making up the midfield, while The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper winner Sari van Veenendaal props up the back.

Borussia Dortmund

Having started FIFA 20 rated five stars, Borussia Dortmund have since dropped down to four-and-a-half but that doesn’t take away from the exciting squad.

FIFA 20 4.5 star teams: Borussia Dortmund

The main man for many will be Jadon Sancho, who has received a significant boost to a rating of 85 after a stellar season. The increase sees Sancho running with 85 sprint speed and 89 acceleration, combining with 92 dribbling, 88 ball control and – if that wasn’t enough – five-star skill moves.

Marco Reus should not be ignored either, however, with the Germany international back to his best on FIFA. Playing more down the middle of the pitch, Reus comes in handy with his 87 finishing and 87 long shots while also providing an option from set pieces with 90 penalties and 86 free kicks. Sancho is joined by Thorgan Hazard in attack with Mario Gotze and newly-acquired Erling Braut Haaland providing options from the bench.

Then, further back, the return of Mats Hummels is a massive boost with 87 heading and 89 standing tackles the key stats for the centre-back. The likes of Julian Brandt, Axel Witsel and Manuel Akanji also make for a pretty well-rounded team.

5 star teams

Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain’s team in FIFA 20, simply put, is ridiculous.

FIFA 20 5 star teams: PSG

The French champions boast untold riches in the real world and their wealth shows in the game, with PSG able to call upon the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. The biggest question for anyone picking this team is whether they try to fit all of PSG’s attacking talents into one XI.

Do you go for an experimental 3-2-5 where there are no wing-backs but you have Mbappe, Neymar, Angel Di Maria, Mauro Icardi and Edinson Cavani all in one team? Or do you be slightly more conservative and keep an attacker on the bench, sticking with the default 4-2-4 formation?

And it’s not just PSG’s attack that is enviable. The French side also boast Marco Verratti, Idrissa Gana Gueye and Ander Herrera among their midfield options, while Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Keylor Navas will ensure a solid defence.

Barcelona

Barcelona appear to be having some problems in real life, sacking Ernesto Valverde and replacing him with Quique Setien, but that doesn’t make their FIFA 20 side any worse.

FIFA 20 5 star teams: Barcelona

While the Blaugrana have always been an exciting prospect in the FIFA series, this season the front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann is something every user needs to experience. Messi is back at the top of FIFA and his 96 dribbling and 95 finishing are a dream to use, while Suarez and Griezmann provide exceptional support in attack.

The arrival of Frenkie de Jong is also an exciting prospect to help build up from midfield, with the Dutchman boasting 90 short passing. And at the back, Marc-Andre ter Stegen remains one of the top goalkeepers in the game with an overall rating of 90. Only Jan Oblak (91) is rated higher.

Liverpool

European champions Liverpool were handed boosts across the pitch after claiming the Champions League for a sixth time last season and carrying their form into the new campaign.

FIFA 20 5 star teams: Liverpool

Starting from the back this time, Alisson is the best goalkeeper in the Premier League with an overall rating of 90, while Virgil van Dijk is the division’s best defender. With a rating of 91 overall, Van Dijk boasts 93 standing tackle, 93 defensive awareness, 92 strength and 90 jumping among many other impressive stats which make him a pain to score against.

Liverpool’s full-backs also continue to be a deadly combination, with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s crossing of 93 only slightly better than Andrew Robertson’s 90. Fabinho also provides good defensive cover in midfield with solid tackling stats and 88 interceptions.

Then we come to the front three, who cause as much devastation on FIFA 20 as they do in real life. Mohamed Salah’s 90 finishing is an eye-catching stat to add to his 90 dribbling, while Sadio Mane has an abundance of pace with 95 acceleration and 93 sprint speed. As in real life, Roberto Firmino is a solid all-round player, not to mention Takumi Minamino among the reserves.

United States Women

The best international team in women’s football and the best women’s team in FIFA 20, the United States will be an unfair prospect for your opponents.

FIFA 20 5 star teams: USWNT

We might as well start with The Best Women’s Player Megan Rapinoe, who was rewarded with a ratings boost from FIFA 19, taking her to 93 overall. As part of this, the American legend boasts 91 dribbling, 92 ball control, 92 vision, 94 crossing, 93 short passing, 92 long passing and 91 finishing. She’s joined in attack by Christen Press with her 82 finishing and Tobin Heath, who boasts five-star skill moves, five-star weak foot, 95 dribbling, 94 ball control and 93 crossing.

As we move further back, the likes of Lindsey Horan and Carli Lloyd have creativity in spaces with high pass stats, while the latter also provides a set-piece option with 92 free-kick accuracy. United States’ defensive players are also stars, with midfielder Julie Ertz strong and powerful in the air, boasting 91 heading, while centre-back Becky Sauerbrunn is rated 88 and 89 in standing and sliding tackles respectively. Alyssa Naeher, the 86-rated goalkeeper, is not one to be ignored either.

There might not be a more perfectly balanced team in the game.
